Hethersett Stay Second - Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club stay second in the Norfolk Alliance Division Two after a winning draw at Garboldisham. Hethersett increased the gap between themselves and third placed Horsford A who lost. Looking for Players - Hethersett Athletic Football Club is looking for adult players for its two Sunday sides who play in the Norwich Sunday League. In the first qualifying round of the Women's FA Cup Hethersett have been drawn at home to Haverhill Rovers on October 2nd. Hethersett Stay Second - Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club stay second in the Norfolk Alliance Division Two after a nail-biting two wicket victory over Hillington at the weekend. Chasing 229 for victory they reached their target with eight balls to spare thanks to a blistering match winning innings of 68 not out from all rounder Matt Steward, one of the best innings' seen at the ground this year. Costume Sale - Hethersett Pantomime Group and Hethersett Players are holding a sale of costume on Sunday 14th August in the Church Hall, Henstead Road from 11 a.m until 2 p.m. A large amount of panto and play costume including items for children, principal characters, period dresses and hats will all be priced to sell. Football Club AGM - Hethersett Athletic Football Club held its annual general meeting at Park Farm Hotel on July 11th when members reflected on another successful season and a number of community-based events. Village Games Finals - Hethersett will be looking to become giantkillers when they take part in the finals of the Norfolk Village Games at the UEA Sports Park on Sunday 4th September. We will be competing in the Large Villages/Market Towns section against five towns with much larger populations - North Walsham, Swaffham, Gorleston, Aylsham and Downham Market. Sports included on the day will be archery, badminton, darts. five-a-side football, rounders, short mat bowls, table tennis, tennis and Watt Bikes cycle challenge. Hethersett reached the finals after winning the South Norfolk Regional Event in June.
Back on Track - Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club are back on track for promotion from Division Two of the Norfolk Alliance after comfortably beating bottom club Sheringham at the weekend to stay in second place. Community Ball - Hethersett Athletic Football Club celebrated two decades of providing competitive sport in the village with a community ball in the grounds of Hethersett Old Hall School on July 8th.The event was open to all and not just football club members and over 100 people attended with dancing to the Cleaving Heevages, plus a disco.
Life's a Beach - Hethersett Hall Care Home, in Hethersett is holding a beach party to celebrate and raise awareness of Dementia Awareness Week 2011. During this week (3-9 July), Barchester is supporting both the Alzheimerís Society and Dementia UK by hosting events in over 200 of itís care homes across the country. General Manager of Hethersett Hall, Carol Norton said: ďAs a whole team we enjoy celebrating life with the people who live in Hethersett Hall. During Dementia Awareness Week, we have had the opportunity to highlight living with this condition. The beach party coincides with the building of the beach project within the sensory garden. The idea of this was to bring some beach life to inland Norfolk. Hethersett Hall has built up an excellent reputation within the local community. The home regularly holds events and activities for its residents and surrounding neighbours.Ē
New Board set-up - A new Northern River Valleys Neighbourhood Board has been set up to enhance community partnership work. Hethersett and the Meltons will be part of the area board which also includes Bawburgh, Bracon Ash, Hethel, Colney, Costessey, Cringleford, East Carleton, Easton, Keswick, Ketteringham, Marlingford, Colton, Mulbarton, Swardeston and Mangreen. If you have an idea or need help with a community project your Neighbourhood Board may be able to assist. The Neighbourhood Boards will replace South Norfolk Action Panels (SNAPs) and the first meeting will be on Wednesday 13th July at 7pm in Ketteringham Village Hall. Historic Olympic Day for Hethersett - The 1948 London Olympic torch came to Hethersett on July 4th - exactly a year from the start of the 2012 London Olympics. Norfolk Olympiad Paul Evans and paralympic hopeful Will Smith toured all four Hethersett Schools with the historic torch and there was the opportunity for children to touch, pass and be photographed with the historic object. The torch relay is part of the build-up to this year's Olympic weekend in the village which will run from July 22nd to July 24th.
