Art Groups


Art and Craft Group - Meets Wednesdays during term times from 10 a.m to noon at the Methodist Schoolroom. Contact Tina Greenhalgh: 50 New Road: Tel 01603 810364.


Hethersett Aspiring Artists - Meet on Thursdays at 2 p.m in Hethersett Village Hall. Members use a variety of mediums with the aim of supporting and encouraging each other in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. There is a small library of books and videos for members' use and the group holds an annual exhibition in the village hall.


Hethersett Card Making Club - Usually meets second Sunday of each month (visit our What's On Section to check dates), Hethersett Village Hall 9.30 to 12.30. Further details from Sharon on 01603 507102


Painting for Pleasure Group meets in Hethersett Village Hall on Wednesdays from 10 a.m until noon.




Hethersett and District Aid in Sickness Fund

Hethersett and District Aid in Sickness Fund (formerly Hethersett Nursing Association) gives financial assistance to those living in Hethersett, Ketteringham and Little Melton. Grants help those who are sick, infirm or convalescing and also help with the supply of medical or nursing equipments. Grants can be used for adapting cars, wheelchair or other mobility items, support during a sudden medical crisis, nebulisers and other equipment and pre-payment certificates for prescriptions. Caroline Lindley Educational Foundation

The Caroline Lindley Educational Foundation gives support to young people in Hethersett and will consider assisting with the cost of any educational activity, need or necessary supplies. Hethersett Jubilee Youth Club

Hethersett Jubilee Youth Club is in Back Lane virtually opposite the Village Hall. Meets on Wednesday evenings from 5.45 to 7.30 p.m for School Years 5 and 6 and from 7.30 to 9.15 p.m for Years 7 to 9. There is also an out of school club on Monday, Tuesdays and Fridays from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m. For more information contact Gillian Saunders on 01953 607566. The hall can be booked for events. Bridge Club - Club meets every Thursday evening from 7 p.m until 9.30 p.m in Hethersett Social Club to play social rubber bridge. A friendly club it welcomes all levels of experience including beginners.

Cycle Speedway: Hethersett Hawks ride on the Memorial Playing Field and the club meets Tuesdays at 6.30 p.m from April to October. Contact Mel Perkins on 811304.

Kung- Fu - Hung Sing Martial Arts School Junior Kung Fu classes. Ages 5-13 meets at Hethersett Methodist Church Hall, Great Melton Road, Tuesdays 4.30 and 5.15 during term times.

Swimming: - Flippers Swimming Club for children of nursery and First School Age takes place at Hethersett Junior School on Wednesdays from 4.30-6 p.m and Thursdays 4-5.30 p.m. Contact Heather Parker on 811620.

Adult Education courses of family and adult classes take place at Hethersett Junior School and Old Hall School. Aquafit Monday and Friday mornings and Tuesday evenings.

Swans Swimming Club for children aged four and over meets at the Junior School on Wednesdays 6.30-8.30 p.m during term time and for adults on Thursdays 7.30-8.30 p.m during term times. Contact Rob Joy on 01362 851423.




The Parent and Baby Clinic meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 2 p.m in the Methodist Hall. The group gives the opportunity to weigh babies and see a health visitor for advice and help. Contact Wymondham Health Visiting team on 01953 606201.


The Mother and Baby Group with the support of a health visitor meets on Fridays in term time between 10.15 and 11.45 a.m at the Church Hall in Henstead Road.


First Steps Play Group, for babies, toddlers and parents and carers.  Held in  Village Hall, Back Lane, on Mondays from 9.45 a.m until 11.15 a.m during school term time. Different activities each week from painting to singing and free play.  A chance for babies and toddlers to play and explore with lots of different activities and toys.  For parents and carers to meet up over a tea or coffee whilst their children enjoy a safe playing environment. Please see our Facebook page for up and coming news and events.  This is a very friendly group run by mums and dads.


Ducklings Pre School Playgroup is based at Woodside Infant and Nursery School.  The Playgroup runs on weekdays from 9.10am  - 12.10am for children aged from 30 months to five years.  An Activity Group for those children aged from 21 months to 30 months,  where parents and/or carers stay to play,  runs on Wednesday afternoons from 1.15pm to 2.30pm.
